2006 – Saltpans, Del Borgo, Vittoriosa, Malta

Saltpans It explores the rugged Maltese landscape and the artist’s fascination with wide, open, fragmented forms, sinuous lines and a palette that betrays his passion for blues, greens and vibrant earth colours.

The works presented in the exhibition are mostly stoneware, fired to a temperature of 1260°C in an electric kiln. Slabs and wheel-thrown forms are carved and decorated with subtle combinations of glazes, ashes, oxides, fused glass and lava to provide a masterful interplay of hues and textural qualities that characterise the artist’s work.
